A handwritten reminiscence of the Gillam family's settlement near Cottonwood Lake in Cottonwood County, Minnesota in 1869. Gillam describes in detail the landscape and the varied wild life found around Cottonwood Lake at that time. Also included is information on settlement in the county following the Civil War as a part of the Soldiers Homestead Act, and the development of the county. The reminiscence was presented as an address before the Game and Fish League, November 13, 1945.
